The largest recreational hotspot in Texas is Lake Conroe. A massive man-made lake 1 hour north of Houston, near Montgomery, Lake Conroe doubles as the drinking water reservoir for Houston so you know the water is clean and clear. Bass and Crappie fishing is a bigtime activity here along with every other water recreation you can think of involving any type a floatation device – motorized or otherwise. The lake was filled in 1973 and covers 22,000 acres at an average depth of only 20 feet. There is also Texan-sized shopping at the Conroe Outlet Center and if you drop by in the Fall, the huge Conroe Cajun Catfish Festival is a major state-wide attraction.

Villas On The Lake Home Group location is situated right on Lake Conroe. Water recreation is at a premium here – boating, fishing, water-skiing – and everybody is doing it. Nearby are water parks and golf courses. Onsite fishing, tennis and hot tub are great but don't forget you are only an hour from Houston, and right next to historic Montgomery.
